That new guy from Sabre is really only funny as a foil for everyone else - I liked him trying to interview applicants for Sabre's Minority Executive program.

I'm really not sure about Holly. I love her as a character, I think she's great on the show and excellent as a partner for Michael, and I think you're right that she's an attempt to build a long narrative for Michael. But it's so obvious as a viewer that she'll never quite work the way you want her to - she's so perfect for him that it makes any other love interest unsatisfying, but she'll also never be around long enough for us to explore what Michael would be like in a serious, fulfilling relationship. Amy Ryan is only ever going to be a guest star, much as I might wish it weren't true. I could imagine her showing up in the show's final episode and letting us know that she and Michael will now be happy together, but outside of that option, she really only works as an end point, and doesn't do much to help the process of getting there.

Hi Kvanaren! Wow I completely agree with all of this. I've been trying to understand why the show has become less interesting, and you're absolutely right that it's because the characters' have become less believable and the show has lost direction. I still have hope though - what do you think about Holly's return? I get the sense that the writers are on the same page with you on this, and that Holly is an attempt to recuperate the type of long-term story they're looking for. Even at that, I still think they need more durable direction. You're right that the baby has a lot of potential. I just hope that the writers stop getting side-tracked with episodes focused on boring and inconsequential characters like that new guy from Sabre. He's the one who needs to be axed by Dwight.
